I think this is a great idea. I must admit I find it hard to find subjects to encourage responses to our library blog. Offering answers would certainly help. Maybe we could have the blog there for library refernce questions. I think a lot of people do like to comment on what the library and especially the council is doing. however, unless something is changing, or thye want a result, they dont usually put other than a verbal comment in. We need our sites to be vibrant - a blog without comments is really quite sad!
I also note that we have been finding more and more reference queries coming bakc to the library - so lets encourage this - a lot of people out there dont know what we do.

Delirious...
I do like del.icio.us honestly, but I cant understand why I have such trouble spelling it - I have no problem spelling delicious without the dots - but put them in and I am totally confused!

I dont know why it was so hard to try to put the link in. It took about 5 or 6 attempts!
Now that I have revisited del.icio.us I will make an effort to add more of my links to it. Especially before I go overseas this year... and it will help - for times like when all my favourites inexplicably disappeared from my computer at work. I would like to look at putting our links on the website into del.icio.us - but it's all time isnt it?

Video
I love this! the trouble is I could spend hours looking at video on the net. Fortunately, it's not a possibility at work - where it runs so slowly ( if at all) that you wouldn't try.
We are getting more and more enquiries about video and students seem to be getting video as part of their studies. This poses a problem for public libraries, as we just dont have the bandwidth to sustain this use.

Wikis and stuff
I had thought about wikis before - but had never considered a public service like the police would use it! Good on them! Do you think we will see our parliamentarians asking us what we would like in legislation in the future? Surely they would like our opinions?
I can see all sorts of uses for this - providing we can get the IT support. We still cant access any of our blogs on the network, so I have my doubts about it. However, as it would only be one site, I'm sure we could accommodate it.
I loved the Star Wars wiki. We really need something which will capture everyone's imagination - something people will want to contribute to. This is the problem I find with work blogs - they need comments - otherwise they look pretty sad:(

RSS feeds
Hello,
Well I finally had time to do this! I have been using Yahoo for about a year - so decided to try Google - not sure about it yet. It certainly seems easier to add feeds - but I havent worked out yet how to delete one! It is so easy to subscribe - i managed to subscribe to one without meaning to! It's a fascinating little site: You know? That thing? Whatchamacallit - I'm not sure I want it there for posterity - i managed to subscribe to it whilst searching for the BBC news!
Anyway, my other feeds were more successful - i decided to search around and found some online books - there is some weird and wonderful stuff out there! Manybooks.net and New online books - i cant say I would recommend either - but they did lead me all over the place in my searching!
In the process, I discovered Fark and just had to subscribe - out of natural curiosity, or course...
And as I had already got ABC and SBS news on my Yahoo account - I subscribed to BBC World News.
I have to say over the time I have used Yahoo I have enjoyed having everything in one place and just dipping into what is happening out there.

Avro Vulcan on Flickr
I found this photo awesome! OK, I have been reading too many aeroplane magazines from the UK lately - particularly Fly Past - following the Vulcan to its first flight, for many years, late last year.

My first professional job in a library was at Lincoln city Library in the UK and I remember the place very fondly. It was also the place I started learning to skydive and was excellent for plane spotting, as it has so many air bases. On one occasion, the Vulcan flew very low up Lincoln High Street, setting off alarms all the way up as it went! I remember being awestruck by the size of it - and I still am. I am hoping to get a look at it later this year when I re visit Lincolnshire.

Hello Library 2.0
Well here we all are - the library is abuzz with the sound of YouTube - as we all "unmute" our computers and dive in to Library 2.0. My surprise has been at the number of participants - quite exciting - especially those I didnt think would embrace this technology- go guys!
Despite having used some of the technology for over a year now, and being happy to blog on other people's sites, posting on my own blog is another thing entirely. Outside the comfort zone - yaa! Who's going to read it? Intially, I hope no one... but then again, maybe I'll get comfortable with my own voice and feel the need to get feedback - why is no one listening??!!
So out there in cyber space can anyone hear you scream? ONLY IF YOU SHOUT LOUDLY ENOUGH! With so many blogs to choose - you got to hope yours is not top of the list:) Anyway, enough from me - let me leave some comments on some of those other choice postings.....
